It is sometimes mistaken for poison ivy but it has five leaflets instead of the three leaflets of poison ivy. Stems will grow along the ground and root into the ground at each node. Remove these ground stems if you wish to control the spread of the plant. The leaves turn bright red in fall. One report states that the caterpillars of thirty-two species of moths use this vine as a host. The spring flowers are insignificant but birds eat the small black berries that show up in the fall. Wildlife take refuge in the tangles stems of old vines. It is resistant to deer damage.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"SCNPS Upstate","offers":[{"title":"6\"","offer_id":46649600409887,"sku":"E-85","price":12.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0754\/9501\/4687\/files\/virginiacreeper.jpg?v=1694388185","url":"https:\/\/shopupstate.scnps.org\/products\/parthenocissus-quinquefolia-virginia-creeper-1","provider":"SCNPS Upstate","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
