The flowers are attractive to butterflies, bees and other insects and a larval host for a variety of moths. Puffy, inflated seed pods appears after bloom. The pods may be used as ornamental interest in the garden or in dried flower arrangements. Baptisia plants are deer resistant.
Baptisia species produce seeds easily and hybridize readily. If you wish to produce seeds of a straight species, do not plant more than one species within the distance of a bee's flight.
