This is a shrubby, semi-evergreen member of the mint family. The small leaves smell like peppermint when brushed or bruised. Large numbers of small flowers are produced in late summer. The word "mint" scares some gardeners but this is a tidy, compact plant. In the garden, this plant can be added to the formal flower border, used as a tall groundcover and used as a container plant. It tolerates pruning. The flowers attract hummingbirds, butterflies, bees and other insect pollinators. It is reported to be deer resistant.
