The broad, yellow-green leaves with rippled leaves make this is a very distinctive sedge. The purple flower spikes are interesting although not showy. The plant is not quick to grow or spread. Use it as an edging plant or as a small specimen, as you might use a small hosta. It is suitable for a shady formal garden or naturalizing in a woodland. Deer tend to leave sedges alone.
