This wildflower has a vigorous spreading habit in a moist, open site. The name "obedient plant" refers to the fact that a flower can be pushed to a side and it will stay - as if it is on a hinge. With a little maintenance, it can be grown in a formal garden. Errant sprouts are easily pulled. It is well-suited for a moist prairie or natural site. Bees, butterflies, hummingbirds and other  insect pollinators visit the flowers. References are mixed. Reportedly, it has some resistance to deer.
