This is a low-growing herbaceous perennial that serves as a groundcover in the garden. The leaves are green above and silvery below. Several heads of white flowers are held in a cluster on short spikes that stand above the flat rosettes of leaves. Plants are either pollen-bearing or seed-bearing. These plants were collected from a single colony so spread by seeds is unlikely. American painted lady butterfly larvae feed on this plant. Several small native bees pollinate its flowers. Deer and rabbits tend to leave it alone.
