This evergreen fern grows as an epiphyte - that is, it grows on tree trunks and branches without harming them. The rough bark of a large tree like an oak is ideal. It spreads slowly by rhizomes and develops dense clumps in time. Attach the pieces to a tree with sisal or cotton string that will rot away. Do not plant in soil. The leaves of this plant turn brown and shrivel when dry and then turn green again (resurrect) when moistened thoroughly by rain or a hose. It is suitable for a formal garden or for naturalizing.
