This clump-forming perennial sedge has very slender dark green evergreen leaves up to 12” long and about 1/8” wide. In late spring, small dense green clusters of flower spikes are held above the leaves. Plants do not have rhizomes but can spread by seeds. It is suitable for any garden from formal to naturalistic. Like other sedges, it is a caterpillar host for an assortment of skippers and moths. Its seeds are eaten by birds and other small animals.
