This is a small wildflower that grows for one year, produces seeds and dies. In a suitable site, volunteer seedlings will appear the following year. A well-grown plant makes a small bushy plant with arching stems, delicate foliage and small yellow flowers. It makes an attractive container plant and is suitable for naturalizing. The flowers are pollinated primarily by bees. Birds and other small animals may eat the seeds. It is a host for the caterpillars of sulphur butterflies.
