This plant was formerly known to botanists as Coreopsis verticillata. While cultivars are available in the nursery trade, the wild-type species is hard to find. The bright yellow daisies of this wildflower are about two inches wide. The leaves are divided into narrow segments that give it a delicate texture. It spreads slowly by rhizomes. This species may be best suited for an informal garden or a natural area. The flowers attract an assortment of insect pollinators and birds eat its seeds. It is reported to be deer resistant.
