This wildflower is native to South Carolina's mountains. Clusters of hanging pink flowers are produced on stalks above the clump of deeply dissected, gray-green leaves. It is suitable for a formal flower garden and for naturalizing in a woodland. Reports state that the flowers are pollinated by bees, butterflies and hummingbirds. Seeds are dispersed by ants. It is reported to be resistant to deer and rabbit damage.
