This deciduous shrub was selected for its compact habit and heavy fruit production. Fruit-bearing hollies require a pollen-bearing plant like 'Southern Gentleman' nearby to produce fruits. Plants have small greenish-yellow flowers in early summer. The fruits are approximately one quarter inch in diameter. They can be produced in large numbers and are colorful from fall into the winter. In the garden, this plant can provide a lot of color in the winter. The flowers are pollinated, primarily, by bees. Birds will eat the fruits. Deer will browse on this plant.
