This is a small native aster with narrow leaves and two inch wide purple daisies that have yellow centers. It is reported to spread by short rhizomes to make dense clumps. This plant is not widely available in nurseries. From the few descriptions available, it should be suitable for a formal garden or a natural setting. The flowers attract bees, butterflies and other insect pollinators. Seeds are eaten by birds. It is reported to be somewhat resistant to deer and rabbits but it may be wise to protect young plants.
