This is a shrubby plant with a dense, shrubby habit in the garden. It is said to be a short-lived perennial but it will produce volunteer seedlings. It is compact and well-behaved enough to use as an accent for a small garden and is suitable for naturalizing. Bees, flower flies and small butterflies visit the flowers. Birds and other small animals eat the seeds. It is resistant to deer and rabbit damage. The seeds were collected in Greenville County.
