This is a shrubby little wildflower has narrow, needle-like leaves and a long season of yellow flowers. It spreads slowly by stolons to form a tight, densely branched colony. It is compact and suitable for a small garden and for naturalizing in a dry site. Small bees and flower flies visit the flowers. It is resistant to deer and rabbit damage.
The seeds were collected in the South Carolina piedmont.
