This clump forming, drought tolerant wildflower is reported to make excellent cut flowers. The colorful bracts and small speckled flowers are showy. It spreads more slowly than some of its relatives and is suitable for a well-drained formal garden or a natural setting. The flowers attract bees, butterflies, moths, and hummingbirds. Deer tend to leave it alone.
