This evergreen wildflower produces slow-growing clumps of arrowhead-shaped leaves. Typically, they are mottled with light green markings. Small, urn-shaped flowers are produced under the leaves and are often hidden from view. This plant is uncommon in the nursery trade but it is suitable for any situation from a shady formal garden to a natural situation. Literature states that the flowers are pollinated by beetles and flies. Seeds are dispersed by ants. The foliage is reported to be deer and rabbit resistant.
