This wildflower is distinguished, in part, from related species in our area by the fuzzy undersides of its leaves. Slender, upright spikes of tubular flowers are produced in early summer. This is an attractive, tidy garden plant that is suitable for any setting from formal to naturalistic. Bees, hummingbirds, butterflies and moths are reported to visit the flowers. References say that it is not a favorite of deer but they may browse it.
