This wildflower is adaptable in the garden. In nature, it is found in dry to moist sites. Sturdy, upright stems grow in clumps. The large compound leaves add a bold, tropical texture to the garden. Large flower clusters are produced at the tops of the stems. Bees are the primary pollinators but some references report visits by other insects and hummingbirds. It is suitable for the back of a formal garden or a natural setting. It is a host plant for the cloudless sulphur butterfly. Doves, wild turkey and other birds eat its seeds. It is resistant to rabbit and deer damage.
