This tall wildflower spreads by rhizomes to form a colony. The leafy stalks are rough to the touch and purplish in color. Branches at the top of the stalks produce large numbers of 2" wide yellow daisies. The plant can spread aggressively in a moist site. Because of this and its large size, it may be best suited for a large property and a naturalistic site. The daisies attract a wide variety of insect pollinators. Birds eat the seeds. Dead, hollow stalks provide habitat for a wide variety of insects. Deer and rabbits may eat young plants.
