This is a vigorous wildflower with bold leaves. Showy heads of white flowers stand on stalks above the foliage. Most internet references state that this is a clumping plant. A few reports, including one from an SCNPS member, say that it will spread by stout rhizomes in time. It is reported to be adaptable to soils provided drainage is good. The flowers attract a wide variety of insect pollinators. It is reported to be deer resistant due to the fact that the leaves are aromatic and roughly hairy. Protect young plants from rabbits.
