'Sixteen Candles' is a dwarf selection of a deciduous shrub that typically grows to ten feet tall. The spikes of fragrant white flowers in summer attract hummingbirds, butterflies, bees and other pollinators. It is valuable in the landscape because it blooms in shady locations. Suckers are easily removed to control its spread - and to share with friends. This is an attractive shrub in a formal garden or in a naturalistic situation where its suckering habit is beneficial. The small seeds are eaten by birds and other small animals.
