This wildflower is very adaptable. It grows full sun to part shade and tolerates drought and poor soils. Plants form tight clumps with deep root systems. This plant is suitable for a formal garden or a natural setting. The early white flower spikes are especially attractive in an open woodland or on a woodland edge. The flowers are pollinated by bees. They are deer resistant.

Baptisia species produce seeds easily and cross breed readily. If you want to produce seeds of a straight species, do not plant more than one species within bee-flying distance.
