This colorful wildflower has been a popular garden plant for generations. The bright red flower heads catch the attention of the human eye as well as hummingbirds, butterflies and other insect pollinators. In a formal garden, the spread of this striking plant will require periodic control. This is not difficult because the plant has shallow roots. If space is limited, try it in a large container. This plant is excellent for naturalizing. Deer tend to leave it alone.
