This is a University of Georgia selection of a deciduous shrub that is native to the coastal plain of South Carolina. It was selected for its high productivity and large blueberries. Plant more than one cultivar for the best fruit production. 'Powder Blue' is a mid-season blueberry and is a good partner for 'Tifblue' and other mid-season blueberries. Blueberries are useful and also ornamental. They are suitable for the formal garden, a shrub border, a naturalistic setting or a food garden. White urn-shaped flowers attract bees in spring. In good years, the fall foliage turns bright red. Birds and other animals may eat some berries but the berries are too large for most birds. Deer will browse on unprotected plants.
