This is a sunflower of modest proportions for the woodland edge. Large yellow daisies top slender stems. It spreads by rhizomes but is not overly aggressive. Still, it may be better suited to naturalizing than a formal garden. Silvery checkerspot butterflies and a wide assortment of moth larvae feed on this plant. It is reported to be deer resistant but deer will eat the flowers. Protect young plants from rabbits.
