This is a vigorous, deciduous, twining vine. It will grow over a trellis or other sturdy support. Without support, it will sprawl along the ground as dense ground cover. A healthy vine is covered with flowers for a few weeks each year. The clusters of fragrant white flowers attract hummingbirds, butterflies and other insect pollinators. Pollen-bearing and seed-bearing flowers are produced on separate plants. Pollen-bearing plants are reported to have slightly showier flowers. This vine can grow in shade but will flower better in sun.
